Scotland
In December 2017, Courtney and I spent a week touring the Scottish highlands, arriving right after a large storm blanketed the hills in a fresh coat of snow. As we drove north out of Glasgow, the open, stark landscape immediately pulled me in and didn’t let go. I could barely keep my eyes on the narrow, winding roads as we made our way through Glencoe and the Isle of Skye, always eager to see what was around the next bend. The highland terrain is deceiving - feeling much grander than you’d ever guess looking at a topographic map. Visiting in winter had its pros and cons. On the plus side, I loved the cold, contrasting beauty and the lack of tourists. That said, the short daylight hours limited the time we could enjoy the outdoors. I look forward to getting back some day for a proper hike and road-trip up the north coast…. in the summer.
